The fourth annual Springfield Rotary Gourmet Food Truck Competition is set for Aug. 12 in Veterans Park, and this year, attendees will share some voting power with the judges as event organizers are now providing a way for competition attendees to choose a People’s Choice Award winner.
“Without people attending the event, there would be no competition, and, in turn, no philanthropic footprint,” said Eddie Bell, Rotary member and Food Truck Competition marketing committee chair. “The People’s Choice Award allows attendees to tell us who has provided them with the best food and most memorable experience.”
Competition attendees must download the Springfield Food Truck mobile app for Android and iOS devices to participate in voting during the event. Voting will take place from the beginning of the competition until 30 minutes prior to the awards ceremony. Voters will only be allowed one vote per device during the competition, and the vote leaders will not be revealed until the winner is announced.

“After each previous competition, we’ve received a lot of feedback about creating some sort of People’s Choice Award, so we’re excited to add this much-suggested feature to this year’s competition,” said Bell.
Beginning at 11 a.m. and ending at 9:30 p.m., the competition will feature 38 trucks, all featuring something unique to taste. To view a list of all participating food trucks download the Springfield Food Truck mobile app or click here.
