About the Competition
Thirty-four gourmet food trucks have traveled to Springfield from across the Midwest and as far away as Maryland to compete for the $10,000 Best Food Truck Cuisine grand prize at the sixth annual Springfield Rotary Gourmet Food Truck Competition. A group of local celebrity judges will sample each food trucks’ signature dish and vote based on flavor, presentation and creativity. A total of $15,000 in prize money will be awarded. The runner-up will receive $2,000.
The Must-Taste Event of the Year
Thousands of food lovers from across the Miami Valley are expected to take over Veterans Park on Saturday to indulge in the food trucks’ signature dishes and other menu items. Cuisines will range from gourmet hot dogs and sandwiches, pierogies, barbecue, sweets and everything in between. While attendees are chowing down, they can enjoy live entertainment on the big stage featuring six local bands and performers – The Ark Band, Omega Point, Red Idle Rejects, Terrapin Moon, Andy Fox and Tru Luv Band – a beer garden for those 21 and older, and other park amenities. Admission to the event is free.
Food for Fundraising
The Gourmet Food Truck Competition is the Springfield Rotary Club’s largest fundraiser this year. All proceeds from the event go toward the service organization’s various charities, including providing services to people with disabilities and raising money for international projects, such as Polio Plus and various projects in Lesotho, Africa.
This event would not have been possible without the overwhelming support and contributions from the community. The Springfield Rotary Club would like to thank all sponsors, especially six-time event sponsor Speedway.
